Akua Wollbright, PHD was quoted in Fast Food Genocide by Joel Fuhrman M.D. discussing the defeatist mentality of health care providers when treating patients with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes. Rather than discuss nutrition, medication is prescribed. She uses Detroit as an example where the mentality is:
Superior nutrition won’t work in a place like Detroit. People in large urban communities will not be receptive to healthy eating.
She goes on to say that someone once told her:
You won’t make a difference, it is not worth the effort, and it is best just to prescribe medicine because these people won’t do it.
Let’s prove them wrong.
